Salsa shines give dancers an opportunity to freestyle on their own to the rhythm, it is a time to shine on the dance floor with impressive moves. Shines involve more complex footwork as well as body movement and arm work. Salsa shines are common in Salsa Mambo style (on 2) , L.A Style (on 1). and Puertorican salsa style. They are not as common in the Cuban, Miami and Columbia styles of salsa dancing.
